Medical Insurance

There are a number of general categories of medical insurance, or health insurance, differentiated by the breadth of medical circumstances they provide cover for:

Full medical insurance policies

These cover all medical expenses, including visits to your GP and radiography costs. Some dental costs are also covered. One or two adults, or the whole family, can be covered by the policy. Of course top price is attached to policies with the broadest range of benefits.

80 percent refund medical insurance policies

These cover 80 percent of costs associated with visits to the doctor, and hospital treatment. Dental costs are not covered and often only certain specified radiography and specialist fees are covered.

Hospital or surgical cover only

As the name suggests these lower level, lower cost policies cover surgical and hospital stays only. They may also cover specialists’ and anaesthetists’ fees, if these relate to an operation.
